Lost Person Search & Rescue for First Responders
Management & Search Resource Response Overview
Description: Educated “First Response” management of a lost person emergency can critically affect the successful outcome of a lost person event. To help local fire and police understand the nature of a search emergency, Nancy Lyon, president of New England K-9 Search & Rescue will provide an overview of how search management accomplishes the four phases to a SAR operation: locate (search for); reach (get searchers to subject); stabilize (provide wilderness medical management; and evacuate (carry or airlift to safety). We’ll also discuss the kinds of resources required to accomplish an efficient, effective search. The instructor whose 17 years of SAR experience is in airscent search & rescue dogs will end with a discussion of that resource and do a short demo with her dogs.
