Lost Person Search & Rescue for First Responders

Management & Search Resource Response Overview

Description: Educated “First Response” management of a lost person emergency can critically affect the successful outcome of a lost person event. To help local fire and police understand the nature of a search emergency, a member of New England K-9 Search & Rescue will provide an overview of how search management accomplishes the four phases to a SAR operation: locate (search for); reach (get searchers to subject); stabilize (provide wilderness medical management; and evacuate (carry or airlift to safety). We’ll also discuss the kinds of resources required to accomplish an efficient, effective search. The instructor will end with a discussion of that resource and do a short demo with a search dog.
