On many search calls, particularly at night, NEK-9 SAR and field assistant ground search teams from UVWRT (Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team) are the primary on-site volunteer search resources working with the callout agency. We specialize in nighttime hasty response searching, and - working closely with search management - have developed effective and efficient search strategies. These often result in successful finds within the first operational period (12 hours) of a search.
In addition to wilderness searches for lost people, we also work with our primary callout agencies, as well as with municipal law enforcement, to assist in locating human remains in cases of possible suicides or potential victims of foul play.
