March 2012 NEK-9 Training with Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team. Demonstration by Fish and Game Officer Greg Jellison

Written by Chris Northrop (UVWRT)

NEK-9 monthly unit training on the Dartmouth campus with Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team (UVWRT) in Hanover, NH. Conservation Officer Greg Jellison was there to demonstrate various types of traps we might encounter when searching. The most common ones we might find are designed to hold an animal by the foot just behind the toes and are not intended to break bones or cause injury. If a dog should step in one, CO Jellison showed us how to release the springs to take tension off the jaws to release the dog.
