NEK-9 SAR is always looking for those special people and dogs willing and able to make the huge commitment of time, financial resources, and the emotional/physical energy required to do this workl. Because new members are the next generation of our unit, this commitment includes all of us - the trainee and the entire membership.
We are a small, select, highly skilled, and dedicated group of men, women, and dogs. The relatively small size of our unit places tremendous responsibility on each individual for the success of the whole. Therefore, applicants are accepted with great care. And sometimes we simply do not have a vacancy for new members at the time an individual makes application.
Read through our application information and if you still feel that you have the time and interest please complete the application. (The files require the free Adobe Reader™.) Please be thorough in answering the application questions, using other pages if necessary.
Once you complete and return your application by mail, we will contact you by email, indicating when and where we will be holding our next new applicant screening day.

We also have important work for individuals willing to become part of our base radio operations team. Click here to read the full description of the vital role our communications team plays at both searches and training. If you think you have the time, interest and some of the skills needed to help, email stan@nek9sar.org for more details.
If we sound cautious, we are! We're selective because the work is hard (physically and emotionally), and the commitment you make must be for the long term. We can't afford to train people whose interest turns out to be casual. The work is fun and challenging; each team member takes their life-saving responsibilities with utmost seriousness. A firm commitment to that goal is an essential part of the selection of new members.
